Save water, shower with your girlfriend !
This is something I am super proud of. Here in Australia, ANZ bank turned all their ATM’s in the Sydney area into gAyTM’s in the lead up to Sydney’s gay and lesbian Mardi Gras. They look fantastic and I’m a little jealous we didn’t have them here. (I live in QLD)
I mentioned on Facebook that even though in Australia our laws aren’t as accommodating to gay/lesbian rights as they could be (most states recognise same sex couples just don’t allow marriage) I though it was a great thing for ANZ to do and I said I thought we showed a lot of ‘pride’. Even the famous Coke sign in the city was turned rainbow for the night.
Now I had someone comment on how ‘signage for Mardi gras us one thing - leaving each day with the discrimation around being gay is entirely another.’
I wasn’t in anyway trying to say that these signs justify everything else. I was just trying to say that even though a few colourful signs isn’t going to make a difference, I thought it was nice to see these big companies coming out and showing their support. It could always backlash on them - I mean how many companies have you seen loose business for supporting something that others don’t believe in? (Gloria Jeans, a coffee chain around Australia was criticised because one of the companies they had ties to in some obscure way was against gay rights and they copped backlash for it.) But they did it anyway. That’s all I was trying to say - that it’s great to see these Australian businesses showing pride.
Next up watches!
